Profit Discipline · Launch Acceleration

A skill is not a business. These 12 steps build a profitable one.

The order for turning a useful skill or service idea into a focused business that pays you, whether you're just starting or a few months in.

Why most launches stall

Most service businesses get built in the wrong order.

Most people start with the things that make a business look real. Very little of that decides whether the business pays.

How most people start

  1. 1Pick a name
  2. 2Design a logo
  3. 3File the LLC
  4. 4Build a website
  5. 5Print business cards
  6. 6Post and hope

“How do I actually get customers and make money?”

The right order

  1. 1Know what it has to earn
  2. 2Choose what you'll sell
  3. 5Price it from the math
  4. 6Package one clear offer
  5. 7Then the name, logo and website

Each decision supports the next one.

The Right-Order Launch

The 12 steps, in the order that pays.

Tap a step to see why it matters and when it belongs.

Phase 1

Build what pays

Steps 1–6
01

Clarify the Vision, Think Like an Owner

Turn "more money" into a vision: your income goal, working weeks, weekly revenue target, capacity and primary service model.
WhySpecificity gives you a target. With one, you can reverse-engineer the numbers and stop saying yes to work that doesn't support the business. A full schedule can hide a weak business.
WhenBefore services, equipment, branding or the first post. This step is about clarity.
Inside the programThe Vision-to-Viability Worksheet, reviewed with me: a weekly revenue target, a capacity estimate and a 90-day goal you can measure.
02

Identify Profitable Services

Choose your Top 5 launch services, and sort everything else into yes now, not yet and refer out.
WhyEvery service has different time, tools, direct costs, risk and admin. High ticket doesn't always mean high profit, and repeatability beats randomness.
WhenOnce the target is set. Delay anything that needs tools, training, insurance or licensing you don't have yet.
Inside the programThe Service Profit Grid scores each service on demand, time, cost, risk and profit per hour. You leave with your Top 5.
03

Establish Your Legal & Financial Base

Build the business on paper: structure, registration, insurance, a separate bank account, invoicing, records and first customer policies.
WhyService work happens in homes, on property and with personal information. Putting it off because the business still feels small is how later gets expensive.
WhenBefore you build in the market. Qualified professionals and local authorities confirm what applies to you.
Inside the programThe Startup Legal & Financial Checklist, your first invoice template, and every open question given a deadline. I don't give legal or tax advice; I make sure the right professionals get asked.
04

Build Your Market-Dominating Position

Write one clear, proof-backed promise: who you help, the result you deliver, and why choosing you feels better or safer.
WhyQuality work and fair prices are what customers already expect, so they don't set you apart. Every service has a trust barrier, and a strong position answers it.
WhenAfter your services and customer are chosen. Approve the wording and the proof before it goes into any marketing.
Inside the programThree competitor reviews, several drafts pressure-tested with me, and one final position backed by real proof.
05

Price for Profit

Set a price and a minimum for each Top 5 service, built from the real cost of delivering it.
WhyA $300 service is not $300 of income once supplies, travel, prep, admin and fees come out. A customer who books at a bad price can fill the calendar and empty the profit.
WhenOnce you know your services and position. Then test the new prices on your next five qualified opportunities.
Inside the programThe Pricing & Profit Calculator for your Top 5, a minimum price, and a pricing script you practice until you can say it without apologizing. Then you track your next five quotes.
06

Create a Compelling Offer

Build one primary launch offer: the problem, the promise, the proof and the proposal.
Why"Message me for details" only reaches people already shopping. Confused customers don't book, and a strong offer creates value through clarity, with no need to lower the price.
WhenAfter pricing. Pick one offer, polish it and measure the response before you create another.
Inside the programThe Compelling Offer Builder, checked against your margin and capacity before the offer goes public.
Phase 2

Take it to market

Steps 7–8
07

Build Your Brand and Online Presence

Set your name, logo direction and website, complete your Google Business Profile, and collect your first 10 proof assets.
WhyCustomers judge quickly. If everything feels scattered, they hesitate. If it feels clear and consistent, they relax.
WhenAfter your position and offer exist, because the website is built around them. Test the full inquiry, booking and payment path before you promote it.
Inside the programYour website and inquiry path built and tested, your Google Business Profile, the First 10 Photos checklist and ready-to-customize marketing templates.
08

Marketing Launch Plan

Run a 30-Day Marketing Sprint that builds visibility, credibility, connection and consistency, one week each.
WhyA service business rarely struggles because no one has the problem. It struggles when too few qualified people know it exists, understand the offer, or get followed up.
WhenOnce the offer and the inquiry path work. Track every lead and repeat what creates qualified movement.
Inside the programThe 30-Day Marketing Sprint Workbook, with your first seven days planned, every lead tracked and a weekly review.
Phase 3

Build the machine

Steps 9–12
09

Schedule and Systems

Choose one business hub, then set up lead intake, quote templates, scheduling rules, service checklists and follow-up.
WhyIf you manage leads, quotes, payments and follow-up in your head, you will eventually miss something important.
WhenBefore the business feels chaotic. Once it does, there's no time left to build the system.
Inside the programOne clean path from inquiry to payment, a 24-hour response standard and a weekly systems audit on your calendar.
10

Create Recurring and Repeat Revenue

Choose one realistic repeat path: recurring visits, a maintenance plan, rebooking or a seasonal reminder.
WhyIf every dollar requires a brand-new customer, every month begins at zero. Repeat work makes the calendar and cash flow predictable.
WhenAfter a strong first result. Repeat still has to be priced to cover the full cost.
Inside the programThe Recurring & Repeat Revenue Plan, priced in the calculator, with reminders set up and the first customers to offer it to.
11

Build Your Referral and Review Engine

Make review requests, referral asks and proof collection part of finishing every job.
WhyA business with no proof feels risky, even when the person doing the work is skilled. Recent, relevant proof makes you feel safe to hire.
WhenRight after the work, or within the next day, while satisfaction is fresh.
Inside the programThe Review & Referral Script Pack and a two-ask system: the review while the result is fresh, the referral at a later touchpoint.
12

Financial Tune-Up

Compare your Day 90 results with your Step 1 targets, then choose one to three priorities for the next 90 days.
WhyNumbers are guidance. They show where the business is strong, where profit is leaking and what to change next.
WhenAt day 90. Trying to fix everything at once creates another scattered 90 days.
Inside the programThe Financial Snapshot: Day 1 against Day 90, your top wins, and your one to three priorities for the next quarter.

I've spent more than ten years building businesses of my own and fixing the pricing and offers of other people's. Recently, I helped a fencing contractor go from about $5K to $10K a month in 90 days. Before Profit Discipline, I helped TRUiC build its education center for people starting a small business.

A strong fit if you

  • have a skill people pay for, or an idea you're ready to test
  • have started, but it doesn't feel like a real business yet
  • can give it about three focused hours a week

Not the right time if you

  • want passive income or a guaranteed result
  • need a license you don't hold yet
  • want someone to build it for you
Questions

Before you book.

“I've already started. Is it too late to go in order?”

No. You fill in the steps that got skipped, usually the target, the service mix and the price, so the rest starts paying off.

“What if I put in the time and money and it doesn't work?”

Step 8 tests your offer with real customers before you spend more. If the answer is "not yet," you find out while changing course is still cheap.

“I've bought courses before and never finished them.”

Every week here has a deadline, a worksheet to finish and a 45-minute call where I review it with you. Someone notices when a step stalls.

“How much time does it take?”

About three hours of focused work a week, for 90 days.

“Can't I learn this free, or with AI?”

AI can draft a worksheet in seconds. Making the decisions in order, with someone checking them, is what gets a business finished.

“Can I afford it right now?”

I go through the investment openly on the call. If the timing doesn't make sense for your finances, I'll tell you, and the 12 steps on this page are still yours.

“Does it guarantee income?”

No one can honestly promise what a market will do. I stand behind the process: every step ends with a finished asset, reviewed before you move on.

“What kinds of businesses is it for?”

Any service business: route, appointment, project or a mix, local or remote.

You know the work. Let's build the business around it.
